I am an Egyptian anesthesiologist who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University in 1996. After spending a year as an intern, I obtained my medical diploma (MBBCh) in 1998. By the end of three years of anesthesia residency, I finished my Master essay and passed my examination, obtaining the Master degree in anesthesia in 2000. Later in the same year, I was appointed a position in the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University as a clinical demonstrator of anesthesia. Early in 2001, I was promoted to the position of assistant lecturer of anesthesia.
After finishing my thesis and passing further exams, I was granted the Doctorate degree in anesthesia from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University in 2005. Early in 2006, I was appointed the position of lecturer of anesthesia in the same Faculty and University. Later in the same year, I became a Canadian Permanent Resident. In July 2007, I started my clinical fellowship in anesthesia at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, and continued till June 2009. In July 2009, I started my obstetric anesthesia fellowship at the same hospital, with more focus on clinical research. In July 2010, I had a good chance to further my research knowledge and experience by doing a research/clinical (mainly research) fellowship at Toronto General Hospital.
